St. Brigid's Shrine

One of Brigid's most famous shines lies two miles north west of Dundalk in Faughart.

There are many large stones here in various shapes that people pray around. People believe that each stone can cure certain ailments. They further believe that the water in the stream has a 'cure' in it. A lovely place to visit and a 'must see' if you feel an affinity for Brigid (Bridget, Bridgit, call her what you will....) Interestingly, a black Madonna here. No one could tell me how she got there. Just wonderful!
