The Spirit of Sacred Pilgrimage Captured in Celtic Music

"Aine Minogue.... a breath of fresh Eire." ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

Few events change one’s life as deeply as a sacred pilgrimage—a journey that recharges the spirit, returns us to wholeness of mind and body, and brings clarity to our relationship with the divine.

In her live "Celtic Pilgrimage" presentation, Irish harpist/singer Áine Minogue uses instrumental music, songs, rich lyrical poetry and slides  to capture the full emotional spectrum of a pilgrimage. From the initial fears of unknown territory and the longing for home to the new perspective and the rediscovery of joy we gain when the journey is complete.  The main focus is on her own 350 mile pilgrimage across Spain, "El Camino De Santiago."

This moving show leads us on an adventure in sound and story to remind us of the sacred road we all travel. 

Year Round

Áine undertook a 350 mile walk across the ancient pilgrimage route in Spain, 'El Camino de Santiago,' during the summer of 2007. The final 200 kms of the route passes through the Celtic territory of Galecia. The route ends in Santiago.

It was a life changing event and inspired "Celtic Pilgrimage," an album that deals primarily with the emotional journey of pilgrimage.

During the presentation, Áine will talk about the universal nature of pilgrimage and the manner it which it has traditionally been incorporated into spiritual practices. The old Irish monks believed that there were two types of pilgrimage, a moving pilgrimage, such as the one to Santiago, but also the 'sitting pilgrimage.' This will also be covered, as well as the idea of life itself as a type of pilgrimage.

Some of the musical selections will be drawn from the album "Celtic Pilgrimage," as well as from other selections from Áine's other albums that are better suited to a solo presentation.

There are numerous review of the album available on the main section of the web site, however, Áine has not offered this presentation formally up to now.

It has been requested for presentation for late 2009 and we will have reviews of this particular presentation at that point.

Áine has presented this show informally during her harp workshop and due to the response has decided to offer it in a more public way.

Áine has not offered this presentation in the past, however, it has been requested by a few presenters for late 2009.
