Concert: House Concerts

House Concerts:
If you're within a few hours of a venue that Áine is playing, it is very often possible for her to do a house concert before or after the commercial venue.
House concerts for small groups of fans can work well when scheduled between commercial venue appearances.
House concerts are generally (thought now always) among groups of friends and are not advertised.

*House concerts can be great fun and can work well for me between commercial shows.
*They are usually held in private homes, however, interesting office spaces and work spaces can also work well.
*They are not generally advertised to the public, however, the host/hostess runs the event like a concert.
I tend to really enjoy them and it's lovely to get to chat to everyone afterwards. They tend to create a really nice sense of 'community' and are very casual and laid back.
Please note, no matter how small your space is, a small sound system will still be required (very soft voice).
If the venue is within driving distance, I have a small system system. If not, we would need to chat about this, but it's usually fairly simple since I can bring microphones.

WHAT'S INVOLVED IN ORGANIZING A HOUSE CONCERT:
* provision of the space and seating (usually 40+ people)
(Outdoors is fine provided there's an indoor backup plan)
* Welcoming and taking care of guests.
* Coordinating the general 'flow' of the event.
* Guests often contribute to a pot luck meal or this might be done by one or more people.
* Sale of tickets in advance
(Usually Áine's fee (+ overnight accommodation) divided by the number of attendees
These tasks are sometime concentrated around one person or a couple (host/hostess)
Alternatively, the tasks listed about can be divided among friends.
FLOW OF THE EVENING: - EXAMPLE....
* People can arrive early to eat and socialize
* Áine does a first set (usually 45 minutes)
* Break. This is often a nice time for desert and/or coffee
* 2nd Set of music (45 minutes or so)
TYPE OF SHOW:
If you browse through the other shows in this green room section, perhaps something may catch your eye. Or you may be celebrating something special, a holiday, a birthday - in which case, the evening can be personalized.
